Machine retrofitting is more than just a conversion

Machine retrofitting is more than just a conversion

You’ve made up your mind. For your machinery, retrofitting is a more logical choice than investing in a new machine. You may even already have a company in mind that can carry out the retrofit for you. Our advice: bring up the topic of spare parts. And ask for an overview of future maintenance. Only then will you have complete peace of mind.

The absolute minimum requirement for spare parts management is an overview of all components used in the machine retrofit itself.

It’s even better if the contractor uses that overview to work with you and on your behalf to draw up a critical spare parts list. Such a list is the result of a risk analysis. We analyze

  • which critical components are present,
  • which could result from a malfunction of these components. Examples include damage, loss of production…
  • and the time it will take to fix this problem.
Inventory

This gives us insight into which components are critical to the operation of your machine. If the main drive belt breaks, you won’t be able to get your machine running again. That’s a whole different matter than an indicator light that no longer flickers. Think of it like your car: you can still drive with a broken turn signal. But with a faulty steering system, it’s game over.

For every machine retrofit, we assess which components are critical and which are less important—pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical. Based on that assessment, we determine the lead times you need to factor in for those parts: Will component X be delivered within the day, or will you have to wait a week?

This is how we help you build an efficient inventory. After all, it certainly isn’t the goal to keep every single part in stock.

Maintenance

In addition, we’ll provide you with an overview of which maintenance tasks need to be performed and when, as well as exactly what you need to do. This will allow you to immediately assess whether you should leave it to your own technicians or whether we should handle it for you.

After all, regular maintenance combined with a good spare parts management system is still the best way to ensure minimal downtime.

Machine retrofitting: conclusion?

If you’re taking the plunge into machine retrofitting, do it right the first time. With us, you’ll have complete peace of mind—from the preliminary phase all the way through spare parts management.
